VEYA is an independent UK-based artist whose music blends R&B, pop and cinematic soundscapes into a world of emotion, movement and atmosphere.
Her relationship with music began at an early age. As a young child, VEYA was drawn instinctively to keyboards and melodies, creating little tunes and humming along. During secondary school, she spent free time in the music department experimenting with GarageBand, piano and guitar, writing songs and piecing sounds together for the joy of discovering what she could create.
For VEYA, making music has always been a form of meditation and a way of exercising her musical imagination. That sense of exploration remains at the heart of her creative process.
Her chosen artist name carries a deeply personal connection to her roots. VEYA is derived from her Chinese name, given to her by her parents, and recalls the name her mother affectionately called her growing up: “Vey Vey.” It represents family, heritage, memory and connection.
Life, love and faith are central themes within VEYA’s music. She believes everyone shares the human experience while carrying something uniquely their own. Like a fingerprint, each person leaves a different imprint on the world — and VEYA hopes to leave hers through music and art.
A lifelong fascination with the universe has also shaped her imagination. Classical music from her father, documentaries about space and books about planets and the universe opened her mind to ideas that felt enormous, mysterious and beautiful.
ORBIT, her debut album, explores one of humanity’s most universal experiences: love. It translates different feelings of love into an expansive, high-energy sonic world that still contains fragility and vulnerability.
At the heart of VEYA’s work is a desire for connection. She wants listeners to discover pieces of themselves within her songs — something that resonates with their own experiences, emotions or memories.
Described by VEYA herself as humble, devoted and passionate, her artistic journey is about exploring sound, love, faith, identity, the human experience and the vastness of the world around us.
